Democracy Renovation on the Ballot

Making MA a Beacon for Democracy
Partners In Democracy was founded in Massachusetts, and we’re working to build a beacon for healthy democracy right here in the Commonwealth. In 2026, we’re giving voters the chance to reform our systems directly.

All-Party Primaries
Problem: Elected officials chosen in low-turnout, partisan primary elections. Voters lack legible competition on the ballot–undermining accountability.
Solution: Return power to the full electorate in high-turnout general elections
Open Records Expansion
Problem: Public lacks access to records for legislature and governor’s office
Solution: Ensure both are subject to the state’s Public Records Law
Election Day Registration
Problem: Early registration deadlines reduce voting, particularly among underrepresented groups and people who’ve recently moved
Solution: Allow voters with proper ID to register and vote on Election Day
// OUR WORK
How We Work to Renovate Democracy in Massachusetts
PID MA Action is building support for democracy renovation across our Commonwealth. Our staff and volunteers do this by:
- Spreading the word on these ballot initiatives through grassroots conversations across the state
- Organizing a coalition of civic leaders, organizations, and volunteers to rally their communities
- Advocating on Beacon Hill to ensure, once passed, ballot initiatives are implemented effectively
